DRY TECH 3

Droog initiated Dry Tech in 1996. As in earlier editions, the third presentation on Dry Tech unites engineers of Delft University of Technology and companies from the same sectors with a creative group of designers and architects. Together they developed an array of innovative applications for high tech materials and production techniques. The design proposals balance on the borders on the impossible and lead to unforeseen results.

The aim of the Droog lab is to make innovative products using new materials; mainly textiles and composites. Within the context of Dry tech, Studio Samira Boon developed two new products in collaboration with NEXT architects. The ‘Spacer Chair’, made of a sandwich-braided material, and the ‘Woven Waffle Screen’, for which we developed the textile at the Textile Museum in Tilburg (NL).
Dry Tech is a project initiated by Droog desgin, with support from Delft University of Technology, faculty of Aerospace Engineering, and the BKVB Foundation.

When you look really closely you can see that the two side of the fabric actually leave space inbetween, it gives the fabric even more constructive properties. The shape inbetween is a so called rhombic bisphenoid shape.
