WAFFLE SCREEN

The structure and surface of the woven waffle screen are one and the same; frame = screen and screen = frame. A special combination of weaving techniques and yarns produce a soft 3D fabric with a depth of 10 cm. Hardening this soft textile creates a lightweight 3D panel which is a stable self-supporting structure.

The 3d texture reflects and refracts the light at different angles and also has an acoustic function. The different panels are joined by zippers, which reference to their use with softer fabrics.
This screen is the result of the dry tech 3 projects which was a collaboration with the TU Delft Aerospace faculty, Droog design and next architects.
